ROSE Procedure

The R.O.S.E. procedure stands for Restorative Obesity Surgery Endoscopically. The indication for the procedure is weight gain in a patient who has previously undergone a Roux en Y (RNY) gastric bypass. Normally, after a RNY bypass, the patient feels a restriction when eating, causing them to eat less and lose weight. This restriction is due to both a smaller reservoir (RNY pouch) and fixed smaller opening into the small bowel (Stoma). Frequently, years later, either due to pouch and stoma stretch, or due to the fact that the original pouch and stoma after bypass may not have been small enough, patients begin to regain their lost weight.

The R.O.S.E. procedure is a pure Endoscopic procedure performed through the mouth which reduces the volume of the RNY pouch and the diameter of the stoma by means of luminal plications.
This procedure is FDA approved, since this is a strictly endoluminal procedure requiring no incisions, patients have minimal to no discomfort afterwards and are generally discharged from the hospital 2 to 3 hours after the procdure.
